Fourth Time's the Charm

I've had this special order range for about three weeks. To date, it's performed adequately. However, anything would have been an improvement over the GE gas range it replaced, given it was about 25 years old! The salesman mentioned that getting it set up with my home's Wi-Fi would be a challenge - even frustrating. He was right. I followed the instructions in the manual and in the app several times exactly as written and as the onscreen prompts directed, to no avail. I have meshed Wi-Fi with a booster about five feet from the range (for my other smart appliances) so signal strength wasn't an issue. I finally gave in and called Whirlpool tech support. I had to turn off the breaker for 60 seconds (that wasn't mentioned anywhere in the instruction manual) and then followed the tech guy's instructions that were VERY different from the instructions that came with the range and app. I have nothing but nice things to say about the tech that helped me. BTW, I'm pretty tech savvy. In terms of design, I think it would make more sense to have one of the smaller burners in the front - both larger burners are in the front with the small and medium burners in the back. That being said, I can see leaving a pot of sauce simmering in the back while working two large pots in the front. You just need to use short pots in the front, or be tall enough to reach the smaller pots in the back over larger pots in the front without burning your arms. The oven is large for a slide-in - one of the reasons I selected it. That comes with a trade-off of a very short "broiler" underneath the oven. It's great for storing cookie sheets and pie pans, but nothing too deep/high, and nothing flammable. Still, with three racks, I can overcome the challenge of multiple items in the oven at once when entertaining or cooking up a storm. Once connected to Wi-Fi, I was able to use the smart functions. It's fun to scan the bar code on a food package and have the oven automatically turn on to the right temperature and set the timer automatically. You need to know if the item requires preheating or if you can place the item in the oven as it heats - there's a list in the manual. Not every package works but I'd guess about 80% that I've tried do. Because of this functionality, there are no "knobs" to control the oven; it's all done by a touchscreen. It works well with Google/Nest and you can control the oven (not the range) via your phone with the Whirlpool app. I haven't tried it yet, but you can put an item in the turned-off oven, leave home and tell the oven to turn on to a specific temperature and then set it to keep warm. Food safety is noted in the manual and I can't think of many instances this procedure would be needed. Still, it's a neat feature. The touchscreen menu and other touchscreen controls are very intuitive. Not much more to say on that except ... if the circuit board goes out, you have no oven. That's a bit problematic but part of having a "smart" appliance. The range is very attractive and has great eye appeal. I haven't tried the low temperature oven cleaning since I haven't baked anything messy yet. It sounds like it's similar to how you can use water to steam clean your microwave. If so, that's an energy saver and reduces the risk of overheating and starting a fire. A definite plus - if it works. As a side note, the manual says you void the warranty if you use harsh cleaners. As to the title of my review, my initial order for this range was placed on December 10, 2018. The first three (yes, three!) ranges arrived with various types of damage sufficient that I rejected them - this is an expensive range! My range was finally installed March 4, 2019. Three months of reorders and excuses from the retailer and Whirlpool. Yes, I am a patient person. Besides the above paragraph, I would recommend this appliance, remembering that it's only been moderately used for about three weeks. A 75% damage rate kept me from awarding five stars.

Very modern looking!

I bought this stove to replace my Amana Big Oven I've had for 19 years. It still worked except for you had to light the front burner with a lighter. Since it still worked we gave it to a young couple we know who are just starting out and needed an LP stove. I decided it was time to up date my kitchen appliances. I love to cook and bake so I didn't want just any stove. I like that it has nice cast iron grates and a big oven like my old Amana so you can cook a whole turkey and still have room to cook other things. It will take a while to get used to the touch screen features but it doesn't seem too hard. I just hope it lasts as long as my old Amana Big Oven. I have not used the Aqualift system yet because I haven't made any messes. I'm hoping that it works good. I used the broiler the other day and it did a nice job making the top of my casserole cheese crispy. I just love the style of it. It brings my kitchen into the modern age

This is a great stove. The ability to preheat the oven through my phone or Alexa is great. The scan to cook technology is very impressive. I can scan a barcode on a frozen pizza and immediately put the pizza into the oven and the oven takes over. The push notifications to my watch are also a plus. The stove is easy to clean and looks really nice in the kitchen. Also, I wish there was a way to check on the app to see if my burners are turned off. I'm taking one star off because my stove didn't come with a front right burner cap, I have reached out to whirlpool several times to get it replaced and they have ignored my emails, or my call gets disconnected when they try to transfer me to another department. I'm not happy with the customer service but I am happy with the stove.

Two months in and still like it...

Got this stove before Black Friday and love it. It has features that I didn't know it had, like connectivity to wi-fi and some smart features. Overall, very pleased with the stove. Only two complaints so far; one is the touch screen. It seems to be pressure sensitive rather then capacitive (like your phone screens). This is important when cleaning the panel as it switches on or changes modes way to easily - don't even think of cleaning it when the oven is on as you may disable to cooking time, temp, etc. Second complaint is with the timer. After the set time has completed, there is no way to conveniently shut it off and it keeps beeping no matter what I do. The only exception is when I shut the oven completely off and then reset to the same temp I had it previously set to.

I love the sunset color range.

I've had this range going on 3 months. I suggest moving the gas knobs to the top of the display panel. I hit against these knobs with my body reaching for things in the microwave or when I am cleaning the stove and have accidentally turned the gas on. I'll be sitting in the other room and start to smell gas. Sure enough, I go to check out the range and the knob is moved. I can't even imagine having children in the house. Otherwise I really like the range.

Could be great with a few improvements

I wish the two large burners were not in the front. One front, one opposite side in back. I would not put two large pans side by side on the front burners. I wish the storage drawer had a full width handle like the oven door. The little one looks cheap, and it would be easier to open the storage drawer if you could pull from both sides, not the middle. The identical stove with a different handle does have a larger handle. I am considering buying a full size handle and trying to find some blanks to fill the holes from the smaller handle if I remove it. A software bug perhaps? About once every week the clock reverts to GMT. Last month it would be off by 5 hours, now after daylight savings has ended, it is 6 hours off.

looks pretty, a few issues

My stove is 2 weeks old, looks great, so far seems to perform ok. Knobs on the front take very little effort to turn gas on, which is a big safety concern. Instead of pushing in and turning, they simply turn. The slightest brushing against them as you cook turns the gas on, when you don't want it on. Bad design, concerning, especially with little ones in the house. Constantly checking for gas accidentally on. The towel bar handle looks nice, but sticks out far enough to make it troublesome for a short person like me to reach the back burners.

Great, easy to use Range

I have had this range for about a month and absolutely love it. My food has never tasted better. I love the ease of cleaning this range as well. It also looks very professional in our new, updated kitchen. The only issues I have had are 1. it does take some time to heat up (although you can used the quick heat option--which I have not) and 2. I have been unable to pair it to Alexa. I do use the app and love it though. My husband will even message me when he is at work to ask what I am cooking when he gets the alerts that the oven is preheated.

Knobs labels wearing off after 2 months

Knobs labels wearing off after 2 months. Its just black paint on the knob. It's not engraved and as a result the paint is wearing off with normal use. I've not even attempted to wash the knobs in the dishwasher as is advertised. Great stove otherwise but Whirlpool QA should have caught this issue before the stove was released and corrected the issue.

Whirpool App errors out

Was looking forward to getting this latest model Wi-Fi, Alexa enabled, Scan2Cook gas range ,,, Whirlpool app installed and "appeared" to set up my account ,,, Now Whirlpool app ERRORS out everytime I start it up. I have UNinstalled/REinstalled the app several times, and app is still erroring out !!! I can't really give you any STARS until I can get into the Whirlpool App !!
